Frequently Asked Questions
What business need does the Roland VersaOBJECT MO Series address?
The Roland VersaOBJECT MO Series is designed for businesses that need to print directly onto objects, parts and rigid substrates with more control than outsourced or analogue processes can usually provide.
For a business, the main value is not only the ability to print on objects. It is the ability to bring more short-run, personalised, high-mix work in-house, reduce dependence on external suppliers, and respond faster when customers request customised products, samples, panels, labels, promotional items, or industrial components.
How does the MO Series improve productivity in daily production?
The MO Series improves productivity by combining staggered printheads, UV-LED curing, an A2 or A3 print bed, touchscreen operation and VersaWorks 7 workflow software. These features help the operator move from job preparation to output with fewer production bottlenecks.
In practical terms, this means the business can print more items per run, manage repeat work more efficiently and handle urgent or variable jobs with greater confidence. Productivity here is not just about print speed. It is also about reducing friction across the whole workflow.
Who is the VersaOBJECT MO-180 best suited for?
The VersaOBJECT MO-180 is best suited for businesses that have moved beyond entry-level direct-to-object printing and need a compact, production-ready UV flatbed system. This includes small and growing personalisation businesses, promotional product suppliers, sign and graphics companies, and existing LEF or LEF2 users who want a clear step-up in productivity, application range, and workflow control.
With a 458 × 305 mm print area and support for objects up to 204 mm high, the MO-180 is not simply a smaller UV printer. It brings the core MO Series production platform into a more compact table size, making it suitable for larger batches and jig-based workflows when the objects being printed do not require the wider MO-240 bed. For companies that need professional-quality, repeatable output and higher daily throughput but do not need A2-scale capacity, the MO-180 is the more focused investment.
Who is the VersaOBJECT MO-240 best suited for?
The VersaOBJECT MO-240 is the stronger fit for businesses with higher production demand, larger batches or more frequent jig-based work. It is well-suited to busy graphics providers, promotional goods suppliers, sign companies and industrial environments where direct printing is part of a more regular production flow.
With a 610 × 458 mm print area, the MO-240 provides the business with more room to produce multiple items in a single cycle and handle larger or more demanding jobs. The benefit is not simply a bigger bed. It is a better capacity when throughput, scheduling and repeatability matter every day.
What types of applications can the MO Series support?
The MO Series supports a wide range of direct-to-object UV applications, including nameplates, control panels, electronic items, phone cases, signage, packaging samples, promotional products, awards, bottles, flasks and customised components.
This matters commercially because a single printer can support multiple revenue streams. A business can use the MO Series for personalised products, short-run production, prototypes, internal parts, branded objects and premium decorative effects. As with any UV printing process, material testing and correct preparation remain important, especially for demanding substrates or production-critical work.
Why do white, gloss, red, orange and primer inks matter?
White ink helps produce strong results on dark or transparent materials. Gloss ink allows you to add clear, matte, textured, and raised effects. Red and orange inks expand the colour range, which is useful when vivid graphics or brand-sensitive colours matter. Primer can improve adhesion on more challenging materials.
The business benefit is clear: the MO Series is not limited to basic object decoration. It helps companies offer higher-value work, from sharper product branding to tactile finishes and more distinctive personalised items. That can make direct-to-object printing easier to sell as a premium service, rather than a low-margin add-on.
Why is the MO Series a credible long-term investment for a business?
The MO Series is built as a complete production solution, not just as a printer. The hardware is supported by VersaWorks 7 RIP software, Roland DG Connect monitoring and additional workflow tools such as PrintAutoMate and the Object Decoration Module, which can help teams prepare repeat jobs, position artwork more accurately and manage object printing with fewer manual steps.
For a cautious buyer, this matters. A direct-to-object printer has to become part of daily production, not just an occasional creative tool. The MO Series supports that goal by combining print capability, workflow control, monitoring and operator-friendly usability. The result is a more dependable way to add UV object printing to the business while keeping quality, scheduling and process control under tighter management.

High-Definition Print
Newly developed print heads and LED lamp technology, coupled with advanced software and industry-leading inks give you the power to reproduce small letters, fine textures, gradations, and colour-matched graphics with ease. Furthermore, Orange and Red inks extend your achievable gamut letting you hit colours that previously could not be reproduced.
Whether you need vibrant image reproduction, high-opacity white ink, or the ability to print textures, the MO Series UV printers have the answer.

High Productivity
The MO Series is engineered to deliver high productivity with print speeds up to approximately 1.4 times faster than comparable models from other brands. The staggered print head configuration, powerful lamps and increased bed-size deliver printing speeds of up to 2.39 m2/h in standard mode*, letting you get more done. Denser white ink means you can print white twice as fast as previous models and Gloss ink can now be printed in thicker layers, doubling the speed.
Improvements to the setup process make it easier to switch between products and jigs of items with ease. The included software also lets you unlock unprecedented productivity with multi-layer printing, meaning that you can outperform your competition when printing on almost any substrate.
