The formula for success? A combination of quality printers and online sales is flying high. In only five years' time, the company has grown into one of the largest online suppliers of stickers in Germany. With a machine fleet of 10 Roland printers, an even greater number of cutters and up to 130 incoming orders per day, the company is running at full speed. And the new online shop, which will open at the beginning of 2016, will provide an extra boost.

Company Director Christian Sommer explains: “Our target is to complete the majority of our orders within 24 hours. We also accept all types of orders. We do not work with minimum quantities, and we accept work in any file format. This means that all kinds of customers can come to us for their stickers and, more importantly, they will be helped quickly. The new online shop will make it easier for the customer, and for us, to place orders and process them.”

Reliable machines

The modern production hall contains 10 Roland printers of varying types. The SOLJET PRO 4 XF-640 four-colour printers are running about 16 hours per day and process the majority of the orders. The VersaUV LEJ-640 UV printers are primarily used for assignments calling for white ink, and the VersaCAMM VS-i printers/cutters are used to make proofs and to print stickers for our own use.

Clearly, Christian Sommer is an outspoken fan of the Roland DG printers. “Year after year, the Roland printers deliver very high quality. They are extremely reliable - we can easily have them printing for 10 hours without anyone even having to check on them. And the maintenance is another huge plus point. We can clean the printers and make small adjustments ourselves. And for other service tasks, we can always call on Henrik Rheinschmidt from ISR. He provides very good service and supports us in all of our service requests,” says Christian Sommer.

Online sales has a strong online presence and reputation. “We focus entirely on online sales and marketing. Doing so has allowed us to build up a large customer base in a short period of time. This base includes private customers, agencies, printers and large brands. Occasionally I go and visit a trade show myself just to see what's new, but, in fact, we don't need to participate in events or even to do local advertising,“ explains Christian Sommer about the sales strategy.

Direct printing

Laser Tattoo has its home in the same building as Laser Tattoo focuses its business on laser engraving and the direct printing of consumer products and promotional materials. For direct printing purposes, they utilize two VersaUV LEF machines from Roland DG. Business Manager Stefan Serrer describes the possibilities: “With our LEF printers, we can print on an endless array of materials and objects. Personalization of Apple products and golf balls are very popular requests, but we also print on tablet and smartphone covers, mouse mats, photo cubes, clothes pegs ... Actually, practically anything is possible. In addition to CMYK, we can also print white and varnish. We use these to apply special accents. Oftentimes we discover new possibilities together with our customers. The slate tiles that we made for Havana Club are a good example of that. We ran a lot of tests and finally arrived at a razor-sharp print in CMYK and white on the anthracite-coloured tiles. A beautiful product which now adorns many an eating establishment.”
